Man killed as van hits pub

A MAN died after a van being driven by a South Yorkshire man crashed into a pub.

The 71-year-old, from Wakefield, was the front seat passenger in a Nissan Primastar van being driven by a 76-year-old Rotherham man when it struck the corner of the Black Bull in Midgley, Wakefield.

The driver was taken to Pinderfields Hospital with minor injuries.

n The M18 was closed between Rotherham and Doncaster between 4.20pm and 6pm on Sunday after 12 cars and a horse box were in a pile-up.

A horse box and four vehicles were in an initial collision between Maltby and Warmsworth and the rest were involved in a second pile-up around 80 metres away.

Paramedics took five people to hospital but nobody suffered life-threatening injuries.
