A man is behind bars for kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her.
Levi Solomon, aged 52, of Skelton Grove, Woodhouse, Sheffield, was jailed for four years today after admitting kidnap and possession of a firearm at a hearing in May.
The court heard how Solomon showed up at his former partner’s home in Sheffield in November last year and threatened to kill her if she did not go with him back to his flat.
South Yorkshire Police said she went with him because she was fearful for her life.
Once in his flat, Solomon punched his ex in her face and refused to let her leave, threatening her with further violence.
Solomon had a stun gun on him on him on the day he struck and he trapped his victim for hours.
She was only able to escape when Solomon fell asleep.
Detective Constable Christopher Blincow said: “Solomon put his victim, a young woman, through a traumatic and terrifying ordeal in an effort to control and intimidate her.
“He is behind bars where he belongs and I truly hope that the hearing offers his victim some form of closure. I hope she now feels free to move on in her life, knowing that this man can no longer harm her.
“I’d reiterate again our commitment to protecting victims from domestic abuse and this case should serve as a reminder that we take reports of this crime very seriously and will do all we can to bring offenders before the courts.”
