A MAN was pushed over a garden wall and hit over the head with a shoe in a bizarre attack in broad daylight.
The attack on the 66-year-old stopped only because two witnesses saw what was happening and intervened. The thug, dressed all in black, was an unshaven, stocky, white man, aged 35 to 40, wearing a bobble hat, a zip-up hooded top, trousers and boots. Police said the victim was targeted on Valley Road in Worksop at around 8.45am on Monday January 10.
STUDENTS at Sheffield’s two universities are preparing for one of the year’s biggest sporting challenges. Each year students from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University swap classmates for teammates to go head-to-head for a Varsity contest. Winter Varsity kicks off with ice hockey at Sheffield Arena on February 12 and continues with skiing and snowboarding on February 19 at Sheffield Ski Village.
A YOUNG man escaped from his flat unharmed after clothes he was drying in front of a fire went up in flames. The man, in his 20s, discovered the fire and removed the burning clothes before firefighters arrived at his home on Exeter Drive, Broomhall. The flat was ventilated before he was allowed back in.
