A man has been hit by a train at Meadowhall railway station this evening.

Trains between Sheffield and Doncaster and Wakefield Westgate were being delayed by up to an hour, but trains are now running as normal as of 9.40pm.

Lines had been blocked, with buses being organised to run between Meadowhall and Doncaster.

A spokesman for Northern Rail said: “Shortly before 5pm a person was hit by a train.”

It is understood that the incident is being treated as non-suspicious by British Transport Police, Network Rail said.

A spokesman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: “We got a call at 4.55pm to a male who had been hit by a train and despatched an ambulance at the scene.”
