A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a road crash near Maltby last night.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the local man, aged 53, sustained fatal injuries in the collision – which caused him to leave his bike and land on a car.
A red Aprilia motorbike was travelling on the A631 from Tickhill towards Maltby around 5.15pm on Saturday.
The bike is understood to have overtaken a blue Peugeot 206 before colliding with the front near side of a blue Citreon Xsara travelling in the opposite direction towards Tickhill.
The collision, which happened around 200yards to the Tickhill side of the junction with Scotch Spring Lane, caused the rider to leave his bike, landing on the roof of a blue BMW Mini travelling towards Maltby.
The rider, a 53-year-old local man, died after sustaining multiple injuries. Nobody else was injured.
Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving of any of the vehicles involved.
