A man has died after collapsing with chest pains in the Peak District.

Buxton Mountain Rescue was called out to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service following reports a man had collapsed with pains on the Pennine Way at Broadlee Bank near Edale.

The Edale Mountain Rescue also attended to bring specialist cardiac equipment to the incident site on Saturday evening.

Emergency service teams attended the scene but despite their best efforts, the man from Nottingham, couldn’t be resuscitated and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Following the attendance of Derbyshire Police, the man was carried on a stretcher to Upper Booth by the joint team members.

A Buxton Mountain Rescue spokesman said: "All team members wish to convey their sincere condolences to the gentleman's family and friends in the Nottingham area for their sudden and tragic loss."
