A MAN has died after his motorbike was in a collision with a car.

The 47-year-old man from Darton, who has not yet been named, was riding his blue Honda motorbike down Darton Lane, Mapplewell, Barnsley on Friday at about 10.10am.

A blue Mazda car was on Pye Avenue, Mapplewell and turned right into Darton Lane. It came out of the junction and into the path of the bike.

The man came off his bike and suffered severe head injuries which proved fatal.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old woman, was from Mapplewell and not injured.

Police are appealing for information.

Anyone who saw the collision or the manner of driving prior to it is urged to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 292 of 23 March.
