A man was cut free from an overturned car in Rotherham.

Firefighters were alerted to the car on its roof on Kilnhurst Road, Hooton Roberts, Rotherham, at 8.25am yesterday.

Crews used specialist cutting equipment to free the casualty, who was in his 50s, from the blue Renault Clio.

He was taken to hospital but is not believed to have been seriously hurt.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were called at around 8.25am on Sunday to reports of a collision in Kilnhurst Road, Rotherham.

“It is reported that a blue Renault Clio was involved in a collision. It is not thought that other vehicles were involved.

“A man, believed to be in his 50s, suffered injuries in the collision but they are not thought to be serious.

“The road was closed for a time while emergency services, including the air ambulance, responded to the incident.”
