Man charged with raping schoolgirl at knifepoint in woods

A 47-year-old man has been charged with raping a 15-year-old girl who was walking to school in Rotherham at knifepoint.

Paul Jones of Herringthorpe Valley Road, Rotherham, has been charged with rape, engaging in sexual activity in front of a child and possession of a knife used to threaten in a public place and has been remanded into custody over the incident.

The incident happened in woodland off Rother View Road in Canklow.

Jones has also been charged with engaging in sexual activity in front of a child and attempting to incite sexual activity with a child, in connection to an offence on Friday, 10 June, 2011, in the Clifton area of Rotherham involving an 11-year-old girl.

He will appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court tomorrow morning, Saturday 19 November.
