Man charged with attempted murder after shooting in Sheffield

A 26-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Sheffield.

Jamie Lee Howden, of Barber Street, Hoyland, Barnsley, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court.

Police were called at around 11pm on Friday 15 July following reports shots had been fired in Burncross Road, Chapeltown. Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident.

Six people, five men and one woman, were arrested in connection with the incident. They remain on bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 1325 of 15 July 2016.
