A man who attacked his partner in front of their children has been placed under supervision for two years by a Doncaster court.
Kieran Flynn, aged 27, must also attend a domestic violence programme after he admitted assaulting Laura Thomas at the home they shared oon Amersall Crescent, Scawthorpe.
David Sheppard, prosecuting at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court, said Flynn, who now lives on Bankwood Lane, Rossington, had been in a two-year relationship with Ms Thomas and they had children aged two and one.
He said they had both been drinking on March 6, when an argument started over ‘a trivial matter’ and Flynn placed his hands round her neck when both children were present.
Mr Sheppard said: “Flynn said that he had seen red and not thought about what he was doing.”
Sentencing, District Judge Jonathan Bennett told Flynn he was sparing him a custodial sentence because of his guilty plea and his lack of convictions for similar matters.
He pointed out a consequence of the assault was that Flynn’s children would also be placed on the Child Protection Register.
