Man appears in court over suspected Sheffield shooting

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a reported shooting in Sheffield.

Nathan Marples, aged 25, of Parson Cross, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates' Court charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Officers were called to the Wordsworth Avenue area of Parson Cross at around 11.30pm on Friday evening to reports a 19-year-old man had been shot.

South Yorkshire Police spokesman said the man was taken to hospital with suspected gunshot injuries, which were not life-threatening. He has since been released from hospital.

Officers believe this to be a targeted incident.

Mr Marples has been remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, August 26 for his next hearing.
