Man appears in court over pub attack on New Year’s Day

A man has appeared in court charged with a string of offences in connection with a New Year’s Day stabbing.

Louis Ward, aged 21, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday accused of wounding with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and threatening a person with a bladed article in a public place.

Ward was arrested following an assault in which a 19-year-old suffered serious injuries, including a stab wound, at the Three Feathers pub in Bowden Wood Crescent, Darnall. Another man was also attacked.

The teenager was taken to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital in Fir Vale to be treated following the incident.

Ward, of Ravencarr Road, Manor, Sheffield was remanded in custody. He will next appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, February 3.
