Man accused of sex attack on woman, 71, gets crown court date

A man accused of robbing and sexually assaulting a 71-year-old woman is to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on April 2.

Martin Holmes, aged 52, has been remanded in custody until the hearing.

Holmes, of Machon Bank, Nether Edge, appeared at magistrates’ court this morning after being charged with aggravated burglary and two counts of sexual assault over the weekend.

The alleged attack occurred on Tuesday, March 17, when Holmes is accused of entering a property on Cobnar Drive. He allegedly threatened his victim with a knife before stealing money and jewellery and sexually assaulting her.
