Work is under way on a major project to improve one of Sheffield’s most iconic green spaces.
Landscaping work has started around the Don Valley Bowl, in Attercliffe, which is bordered by Don Valley Stadium, the English Institute of Sport, iceSheffield and Motorpoint Arena.
The work is being carried out by teams of staff from Sheffield International Venues, Sheffield Council and Green Estates who are clearing the Don Valley Bowl area of trees and bushes to create more space for events and the local community.
Lorenzo Clark, director of operations at SIV, said: “The Don Valley Bowl partnership project is about ensuring this iconic Sheffield green space continues to offer the local community a place to come and relax and experience even more of the city’s biggest and best events.
“The teams involved are working really hard, clearing paths and landscaping the site and it will be fantastic to see the finished area.”
The Don Valley Bowl, known locally as East End Park, has hosted a range of events such as Music in the Sun, Hallam FM’s Party in the Park and Sheffield’s annual After Dark Bonfire Night celebration.
