The spirit of wartime austerity will be revived at a Sheffield store.
Bird’s Yard in Chapel Walk, a shop space for local independent retailers, is to host Make Do and Mend this Saturday.
The event will offer a ‘hat hospital’ and garment re-shaping, cleaning and styling advice, to encourage people to make the most of what they already have in their wardrobes.
Sophie Cooke, from Imogen’s Imagination at Bird’s Yard, said: “With some sound advice we are looking to breathe new life into items so shoppers can make the most of what they already have.
“Bird’s Yard is all about bringing creative minds together. We offer something different to other stores and by sharing our skills and ideas we can help spark a little creativity in our customers too.”
A My Marvellous Make-up workshop is also inviting people to bring along their beauty bags to see how staff can give them a new look or get tips on what to buy.
