Make road safety a new year resolution - police

POLICE in South Yorkshire are urging motorists to make road safety a new year’s resolution.

Motorists are being reminded to drive within the speed limit, at a speed appropriate for the road conditions and to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

They are being urged always to wear seatbelts and never to use a phone while driving.

Scooter riders and motorcyclists are told always to wear protective clothing, with high visibility clothes in bad weather and when there is poor light.

Cyclists should ensure bikes are fitted with lights, wear a helmet and wear high visibility clothing.

Superintendent Eddie Murphy, said: “Everyone must take responsibility for their actions on the road.”
