Major scheme under way to replace miles of Sheffield water pipes

A water pipe improvement project has begun in a Sheffield community.

Severn Trent Water is undertaking a £600,000 renovation scheme on some of Beighton’s old worn out water pipes.

More than 4km of water mains are to be installed by the end of October.

Severn Trent Water engineer Liz James said: “We’ve been working with the local Highway Authority to help keep everyone safe while the improvements are made; we’re also working as fast as we can to complete the work.

“The water supply system has served the Beighton community well for many years and, to help make sure it continues to do so for many more, we’re making improvements now.

“New water pipes can help to prevent burst pipes.”
