The wonderful world of The Wizard of Oz is heading to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park for a stunning Easter event.

A professional cast of performers will weave a magical spell during the Easter holidays, this weekend on April 8, 9 and 10.

The Wildest Wizard of Oz show has a unique take on the much-loved story and the fun will be boosted by the chance to meet with Dorothy and all of her magical friends.

Children can join in some Munchkin Musical Mayhem this weekend at a percussion installation and workshop and visit Professor Marvel’s Wonderful World of Wizardry, a show full of magic and illusion.

There will be a chance to meet the Wizard as he tries to escape from Oz in a hair-brained adventure and the fun-packed days also include children’s craft activities, a treasure trail, fairground stalls and the Wizard’s Hot Air Balloon fairground ride.

Visitors to the park at Branton, near Doncaster, can also be transformed into the tin-man, scarecrow or cowardly lion by a professional face painter and there are plenty of chances to win a chocolate Easter prize.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s events manager, Chris White, said: “Easter is a great time at the park and there will be a fantastic variety of entertainment on each of the three days.

“All this and a unique walk through wildlife experience with some of the world’s most majestic animals makes for a memorable holiday outing.”

The park, the UK’s No.1 walkthrough wildlife adventure, is home to some of the world’s most beautiful and endangered animals, including Amur Tigers and Leopards, Giraffes, Lions, the country’s only four Polar Bears and many more.

The entertainment will be spread around the park and timetables of events will be given to visitors on arrival. Most things are included in the admission price, though some of the fairground rides and face-painting have an additional charge.

Families can also enjoy indoor and outdoor play areas, a shopping experience in the Safari Village and a variety of food outlets. For the brave there is the Zoom Super Slide Barn providing hours of adrenaline filled fun, with an Astra slide and two drop slides (height restrictions apply).

Meanwhile, in the Monkey Play Barn, adults can sit back and relax with a drink while children have the chance to enjoy three levels of play with a range of climbing frames, dens, slides and rope bridges - in full view of the baboon reserve through a glass wall.

Have you ever thought what it would be like to be a ranger? Have you ever wanted to get up close and personal with a meerkat, monkey around with a baboon, or feed a lion or a tiger? Well now you can with Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s unique animal experiences. Choose from a range of experiences - including the Junior Ranger Experience, the Polar Bear Experience, the Carnivore Experience, or the VIP Tour - all available on the website, for yourself, or gift one of these incredible experiences to someone else.
