ACTRESS Vicky McClure who starred in the Sheffield made gritty Channel 4 drama This is England has won coveted BAFTA for her performance.

Vicky won the Leading Actress award for her role as Lol in the series, which was backed by Screen Yorkshire and filmed on location in Gleadless by Sheffield-based Warp Films.

This is England also received nominations for Johnny Harris as Supporting Actor. Johnny played Lol’s dad Mick.

Sally Joynson, Chief Executive of Screen Yorkshire, said: “More awards for Yorkshire productions consolidates its success in being a leading base for TV production.

“Our diverse locations, talented crew base and Screen Yorkshire support make the region an excellent home to tell a wide range of stories.”
