A HORRIFIC smash on the M1 left two people in hospital, after a car span out of control and crossed the central barrier.
A silver Lexus RX 300 was travelling northbound near Barnsley at around 11.50am on Sunday, when it spun from the outside lane, crossing the barrier onto the southbound carriageway.
The car rolled into the middle lane, smashed head-on into a black Vauxhall Meriva, and came to rest on its roof.
The Lexus driver, aged 20 from Nottingham, is in a serious condition with a suspected broken leg and internal injuries.
The Vauxhall driver, 60, from Durham, was taken to the Northern General Hospital with a suspected broken toe.
Witnesses should call police on 101.
