Work to re-waterproof and resurface seven bridges which carry the M1 over local roads in South Yorkshire has started.

The work is being carried out at weekends until Sunday, November 9.

Bridges between junction 30 at Chesterfield and junction 31 at Aston will be repaired.

At 8pm on Friday evenings lanes one and two will be closed until 10am on Saturday mornings, when lane two will re-open.

On Saturday evenings lanes one and two will be closed from 8pm.

All lanes will re-open at 10am on Sundays.

There will be a 50mph speed limit in place.

The work is part of the scheme to convert the M1, between junctions 28 and 31 and 32 to 35a, to a four lane smart motorway.

There will be no hard shoulder along that stretch.
