Motorists will have to adhere to a 20mph limit on more Sheffield streets after a speed reduction scheme was expanded.
The original proposal for a 20mph zone on Steel Bank ended before Crookesmoor Road - and requests to expand the zone to include Crookesmoor Road as well as Moor Oaks Road, Marlborough Road and Elmore Road were rejected by Sheffield Council.
But councillors have now made a U-turn and agreed to lower the limit on the additional streets.
Councillor Shaffaq Mohammed, the Liberal Democrat councillor for Broomhill, who has led the campaign to expand the Steel Bank zone, said: “I’m delighted the council has caved to local pressure and agreed to expand the proposed 20mph zone.
“The new zone has more natural boundaries and is strongly supported by locals.”
