Police have warned of the ‘serious consequences’ that could have been caused by people dropping stones on to cars from a railway bridge.
Four motorists reported people throwing objects from a disused railway bridge over Station Road, Killamarsh.
The windscreens of two cars were damaged and a taxi also had a window damaged by an object thrown at the vehicle as it travelled along Sheffield Road.
Police believe a group of youths seen in the area could be responsible and are appealing for information.
PC Rich Newell, of the Killamarsh safer neighbourhood policing team, said: “While it may seem like just a bit of fun, the consequences of throwing stones at vehicles could have serious consequences. It is fortunate the drivers did not swerve to avoid the items, as this could have caused a collision and someone could have been hurt.”
The incidents happened in a two-hour period between 11pm on Saturday July 13, and 1am the next day.
n Anyone with information is asked to call Derbyshire Police on 101.
