Three woman have been rescued after becoming lost on Kinder Scout.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were called together with Kinder MRT when three women reported themselves lost on Kinder Scout on Friday August 28.

The three women, two on holiday from Canada and the other from Lincoln had set off on the first part of the Pennine Way from Edale with the intention of staying the night at the Snake Inn.

The party found their way to Kinder Downfall when a navigational error sent them into the centre of the plateau, confused in the boggy and featureless terrain, they made a call for help.

The Buxton Team sent out three search parties onto Kinder from the South, whilst the Kinder Team searched the moor from the West.

A helicopter was sent out by Derbyshire Police and the helicopter crew which spotted the missing women in the middle of the Kinder Plateau.

A team spokesman said: “Search dog Shep was first to arrive on scene followed by rescue team personnel. After check ups which found the three women fit and well, they were guided to Edale Cross where a Kinder Team Land Rover was waiting to take them into Hayfield.
