SHEFFIELDERS present are invited to meet Sheffielders past at the premiere of a special history talk this weekend.

A range of the city’s most important figures - from Bassett to Brearley, Firth to de Furnival - will be discussed at the talk.

City archivists Kirsten Smith and Cheryl Bailey will introduce the figures as part of the Off The Shelf Highlighting History festival currently taking place across the region.

“This is a chance for people to come along and hear the story behind the names that you come across so often but don’t always know what they did or why they are well known,” said Kirsten.

“It is an illustrated talk full of interesting people and fascinating facts for everyone.”

Sheffielders Born or Bred takes place on Saturday at Sheffield University Fusion, 1pm to 2pm. Tickets £5 to £7 - call 0114 256 5567.
