Long-serving staff honoured

EIGHT teachers and a residential support worker who are retiring after clocking up almost 250 years of service between them are to be honoured by Sheffield Council.

The authority’s cabinet is to issue formal thanks to the group. The longest-serving is Jean Pickersley, deputy headteacher at Athelstan Primary School, who has spent 39 years working for the council.

Celia Smith, a teacher at Beck Primary, has served for 38 years, while Janet Evans, a supervisory assistant at Intake Primary, is retiring after 31 years.
