RESIDENTS worked with police to monitor traffic passing through Grindleford.
Community Speed Watch volunteers joined Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team to check speeds on the B6521.
In just over an hour the group found 12 motorists breaking the speed limit.
Letters were sent warning the motorists they may face a fine if they are caught again.
PCSO Anthony Boswell said: “We have a successful and active Community Speed Watch in place across our patch and it allows us to work alongside the community to spread the word that motorists have a responsibility to drive safely. We always have room for more volunteers. We provide full training and never ask volunteers to patrol alone or confront motorists.”
