CCTV image of man police want to speak to after an attempted robbery on a bus in Maltby.

TWO thugs who threatened a teenager with a knife and demanded he hand over money during a bus journey in South Yorkshire are being hunted by police.

The attempted robbery happened after the pair boarded the number two bus travelling through Maltby, Rotherham, at around 6pm.

They chatted to the driver before taking seats at the back – then, around 10 minutes later, a 16-year-old boy got on the bus at Braithwell.

The men covered their faces, headed towards the teenager and sat beside him.

Over 15 minutes, they threatened the boy with violence, demanded money and brandished a knife at him.

The teenager managed to alert the driver, who stopped the bus, and the pair fled.

Both men were white and in their early 20s.

The first man was large with trimmed, mousy brown hair, and was wearing a beige hooded jacket.

The second man was thin with cropped blonde hair and was wearing a checked shirt with a white scarf or jumper around his neck.

Police have released CCTV images of the suspects and are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, on January 10, to come forward.

n Call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
