Woman injured crossing road

POLICE closed off roads in Dore village, Sheffield, after a woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a car as she crossed a road.

The 66-year-old was hurt on Causeway Head Road on Saturday morning when a silver Volkswagen Touran, driven by a local woman, was turning right onto Causeway Head Road from Devonshire Terrace Road.

The woman fractured her skull in the collision and was rushed to the Northern General Hospital by ambulance, where she has been detained.

Officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision want to hear from witnesses.

Anyone with information should South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 501 of December 1.
