A woman is fighting for life today after she was struck by a car in Rotherham.

The 30-year-old pedestrian was hit by a black Vauxhall Meriva in New Wortley Road, around 500 metres away from the Centenary Way roundabout.

South Yorkshire Police said she suffered life-threatening injuries.

She was rushed to hospital following the collision at 5.10pm.

The 55-year-old woman driving the Meriva was unhurt.

Witnesses should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 842 of December 11.
