Water poured down burning chimney
FIREFIGHTERS poured water down a house chimney on Heeley Bank Road, Lowfield, Sheffield, after fire broke out at 6.15am yesterday. The flames did not spread inside the house.
In Coal Aston an arsonist was responsible for a blaze in an empty house on Eckington Road. The offender is thought to have been seen carrying a container at the time of the fire last Sunday at around 7pm.
In Rotherham rubbish was set alight outside a block of flats on Birks Holt Drive, Maltby, at 11.20pm on Monday. The flames did not spread to the homes.
Robbery charge
A MAN has been charged with robbery after a spate of muggings in Barnsley. Lee Wilcock, aged 29, of Crookes Street, Barnsley, appeared before magistrates accused of robbing a woman in her 50s on Branksome Avenue on December 14. He has been remanded in custody.
Crash closes road
POLICE closed Lister Avenue, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, in the aftermath of a two-car collision. A Peugeot 306 and Ford Mondeo were involved at 8.20pm on Friday.
