Village’s history told in show

MEMBERS of Wentworth Youth Theatre will be performing their latest show – The Same Seed Under the Sun – at Trinity Church, Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham.

The play tells the story of a year in the life of a group of children living in the Wentworth area more than 150 years ago, when coal mining was becoming the main industry, taking over from agriculture.

It has been written by Ian McGrath and Ian Faraday, youth theatre directors, and takes its inspiration from sources including the autobiography of a farm labourer.

Music has been written specifically for the show.

Performances are on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 23 and 24, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 and £4 concessions from the church following services, or from the Post Office and Village Shop in Wentworth.
