WEAPONS and drugs were seized by police as officers mounted a crackdown on gang culture in Sheffield.
A ‘substantial’ amount of heroin, cannabis and offensive weapons were recovered as part of the operation to disrupt organised crime in Parson Cross.
Operation Kache saw five properties raided in the area, resulting in 12 arrests. Five more warrants were due to be carried out last night.
Supt Shaun Morley, who led the operation, said: “Several knives and offensive weapons were recovered from a residence on Lytton Road and from a vehicle.
“We recovered 1kg of heroin from a property on Pollard Avenue and a considerable amount of cannabis from another on Foremark Road.
“We also arrested two individuals for breaching their gang injunctions.”
The day of action, by 50 members of South Yorkshire Police, included mounted officers taking to the streets and automatic number plate recognition operations.
It follows a recent spate of gang activity in Parson ross.
Mr Morley said: “Two organised crime groups have entered into a feud and we have seen a rise in violent crime in this community in the last two months.
“Our main intention with this operation is to disrupt the activity of persons in this community who are intent on causing harm.
“We want to provide reassurance to members of the public that we’re taking the recent increase in organised criminality very seriously.
