VIDEO: Sheffield organist murder hunt CCTV

MURDER hunt detectives in Sheffield today released CCTV footage in a bid to find two men who may hold vital information about the killing of church organist Alan Greaveson on Christmas Eve.

Police hope the images, filmed on a CCTV camera in High Green on the night of the brutal attack, will help them to crack the case.

Mr Greaves, aged 68, of Greengate Lane, High Green, was attacked as he walked to his local St Saviour’s C of E Church, where he was due to play the organ.

The father-of-four, who had two grandchildren, suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery but lost his fight for life three days later.

Two men in their 20s and 40s who were arrested by police earlier in the investigation have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police have not yet established a motive for the attack.

Mr Greaves, who played the piano in a local primary school was a lay preacher and retired social worker.

He and his wife Maureen were instrumental in setting up a community project and food bank in High Green in the month that he died.

A £10,000 reward is being offered by Crimestoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.

Anyone with information about the murder should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
