VIDEO REPORT - Sheffield snow forecast

SEVERAL centimeters of snow was dumped on the region overnight as the first real snow of the winter hit.

Almost 300 schools were closed across South Yorkshire with many people struggling to make it out in the bad weather.

The Met office are predicting light snow showers for the rest of the day, with temperatures plummeting below zero overnight and a foggy, icy strat to Tuesday.

Some further light snow is expected tomorrow and Wednesday and the public are being warned to be aware of black ice as the week goes on.

The emergency services are warning motorists to only drive if necessary.

Send you photos, videos and stories of the snow to staronline@sheffieldnewspapers.co.uk
