Three men arrested over attack on South Yorkshire police officer in pub

A POLICE officer was taken to hospital with a head injury after he was attacked in a South Yorkshire pub.

The 34-year-old was injured while he was responding to an incident at the Mailcoach Pub, Wellgate, Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Police said he was attacked while he ‘attempted to split up an altercation’.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The officer received a deep laceration to his head and was taken to hospital but was later discharged.

“Three men were arrested and remain in police custody.”
