State school place for MP’s son

State school place for Nick Clegg’s son

Deputy Prime Minister and Hallam MP Mr Clegg has revealed that Antonio, aged 11 and currently a pupil at a state Catholic primary school, will go to the London Oratory School from September.

A spokesman for Mr Clegg said: “In response to media enquiries, Nick and Miriam can confirm that they have decided to send their oldest son, Antonio, from September onwards to the London Oratory School, a state Catholic secondary school.

“He is currently a pupil at a state Catholic primary school, Our Lady of the Victories in Putney, where he has been going for the last six years.

“Now that their decision has been made public, they hope that the privacy of their son will be respected.”

Although Mr Clegg is atheist, his wife is a Roman Catholic and his children have been brought up as Catholics.

The London Oratory School is celebrating its 150th anniversary, having been founded in 1863.

It is popular with politicians from all parties, former Labour ministers Harriet Harman and Ruth Kelly also having sent their sons there.
