Shop staff threatened with gun in Barnsley robbery

An armed robber threatened staff at a South Yorkshire convenience store with a gun before making off with the contents of the till.

Detectives are investigating the crime on Lorne Road, Thurnscoe, Barnsley, at 2pm on Friday.

A police spokesman said: “A man entered a conveience store in Lorne Road and threatened staff with a firearm.

“The offender left the store with the contents of the cash register.”

The robber was described as white, aged in his 20s and was wearing a distinctive beige or green coloured, oversized camouflage coat.

Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 566 of Friday 1 August.
