A woman was left with knee injuries after an alleged assault in Sheffield city centre this morning.
Police taped off Carver Lane, leading off Division Street, after the incident at 1.45am.
The woman - aged in her 20s - had also reported that her handbag and other personal belongings had been stolen.
Investigators were seen taking photographs at the scene before the tape was removed at about 10.30am.
A police spokeswoman said: “ Officers are investigating an alleged assault, after a woman in her 20s was found on Carver Lane.
“The woman had sustained injuries to her knee and reported that her handbag and other personal items had been taken.
“Officers are currently trying to establish the full facts surrounding the incident, and appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and believes they witnessed the incident to call the police.”
