FIREFIGHTERS were called out to Sheffield Ski Village again after yobs started three fires at the site.

The blazes - two in the open and one in a wooden cabin - were started just before 2.30pm yesterday.

Fire crews used hose reel jets to tackle the flames, and smoke could be seen across the city.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called just after 2.30pm. There were three seats of fire and an investigation found the blazes were started deliberately.

“Three fire crews, two from Central station and one from Rivelin, attended the incident. We were on site until 4.05pm.”

Bosses at Sheffield Ski Village, in Parkwood Springs, announced this month the venue is unlikely ever to re-open following a spate of arson attacks and vandalism, leading to insurance problems.
