A Sheffield scientist has died after falling over 1,000 feet in a skiing accident in the Swiss Alps.

Catriona Neath, 32, from Hunters Bar, a Sheffield University graduate, was on holiday with her fiance Peter Davies, 34.

She was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries but died the next day.

The couple were experienced skiers who had been on many previous trips all over Europe.

Catriona was an environmental scientist who worked with multinational design and consulting firm Arup.

She had graduated from Sheffield with an honours degree in physical geography.
Her funeral will be held in Edinburgh on Saturday.
