TWO pensioners from Sheffield suffered serious injuries in a car crash on a South Yorkshire road.

The smash happened on Cortworth Lane, Wentworth, Rotherham, when, police said, a blue Rover 45 pulled out of a building supplies yard into the path of a green Volvo S40.

The Rover driver, a 75-year-old woman from Longley Park, suffered serious internal injuries, while her passenger, a 67-year-old woman from Arbourthorne, sustained severe lower leg injuries.

Both women were taken to the Northern General Hospital for treatment.

South Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone who saw the collision, which happened on Tuesday, just before 4.45pm, about 100m northeast of the junction with Clayfield Lane.

n Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
