DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a Sheffield man who was stabbed are using the first anniversary of his death to appeal for information to help them crack the case, writes Claire Lewis.
Joshua Green, aged 27, was attacked on the dance floor at the Stars & Mayfair Suite, Queens Road, Sheffield, in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2012.
The young dad, from Manor Park, Sheffield, died at the scene and, despite a year-long investigation, nobody has yet been charged over his death.
There were more than 400 revellers at the function suite when a confrontation broke out, during which Joshua was stabbed.
The murder weapon has never been recovered.
Four men aged between 18 and 22 were arrested after his death, two of whom were charged with other offences on the night of the incident .
The other two men were released due to insufficient evidence.
Detective Superintendent Terry Mann, the senior investigating officer in the case, said: “Despite a significant media appeal in the summer and the investigation team speaking to more than 400 people who were at the club the night Joshua died, we’ve still not received that vital piece of information to bring his killers to justice. Someone knows who did this.
“There are still people who attended the club who have chosen to stay silent or have refused to help.
“Joshua’s family and friends had their lives devastated last New Year.
“Don’t let them suffer even more than they already have.”
