A Sheffield man has been fined £900 after admitting illegally depositing waste without an environmental permit.

Robert Joseph Ashley, aged 58, of Carr Road, Walkley, was sentenced at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court after an Environment Agency investigation.

He was caught dumping the waste on land owned by Parkwood Karting Ltd in July 2012. From a flatbed truck he tipped demolition waste from some toilet buildings he had removed to make way for a new conservatory at his home.

As well as the fine, Ashley was ordered to pay £4,000 legal in costs and a £15 surcharge.
