A 65-year-old man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after coming off his bike in Kelham Island, Sheffield, today.

Police said the man was found by a member of the public on the ground in Neepsend Lane, shortly before 6.30am this morning.

It is not known how the man came to be in the road and officers have launched an investigation to establish what happened.

A spokeswoman said: “It is not known if someone hit him and drove off or he just came off his bike.”

Officers have sealed off Ball Street at its junctions with Neepsend Lane and Lancaster Street.

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 105 of today’s date.
