Sex attack victim shocked killer was let into country

A WOMAN sexually attacked by a convicted killer from the Czech Republic allowed to live in the UK said today: “I am shocked they are letting maniacs into this country.”
The 23-year-old, who lives in a Derbyshire village, was attacked by Kajus Scuka, aged 48, who was jailed for life at Sheffield Crown Court, after a jury found him guilty of three indecent assaults and a rape.
Scuka, a Czech national, of Hinde Street, Grimesthorpe, had served 11-and-a-half years in prison for stabbing his wife to death in the Czech Republic. He had also assaulted another female with an axe in a sexually motivated attack in his homeland.
But police had no idea he had entered the country as a European migrant and moved to Sheffield in 2009.
Speaking exclusively to The Star, the woman said: “How has he even got a passport? I think they should check whether people have got previous convictions - they shouldn’t just be letting anybody in, especially if they are murderers.
“If he’s taken someone’s life, he should be in prison, he shouldn’t be out on the streets and certainly not in the UK.”
The woman was attacked by Scuka along the River Don near Meadowhall in April 2010.
She was killing time before going to meet her boyfriend from work at the Northern General Hospital when she was grabbed by Scuka, who tried to push her into some bushes and offered her £30 for sex.
The woman said: “At first I thought I was being mugged as he kept saying £30. Then he mentioned sex.
“I was really shaken about what happened. You don’t expect that when you are walking near Meadowhall in broad daylight - there were people about. “He must have been desperate to even think of doing something like that.
“I was just killing time. It was a nice day and I thought I’d just walk down the path and back. I felt quite safe.”
The brave woman fought back, managed to break free of Scuka’s grasp and fled back to her car.
She said: “I just wanted to get away from him. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Just two hours later Scuka raped a woman as she walked her dog on playing fields in Wincobank.
The woman said the attack had changed her life.
She said: “I don’t think I really realised how much this has affected me. Since it happened I think I’ve just blocked it out.
“Afterwards I was suspicious of everybody. Before, maybe I was a bit naive. Now I’m wary of people and think they are going to rob me - it’s not a very nice feeling.”
Scuka was locked up for life and told her must serve at least 12 years behind bars but may never be released.
The woman said: “I was shocked about the sentence. I don’t think he should ever get out - he’ll just do it again. He’s beyond help but he ought to try and get some help in prison.”
