Runner raising cancer funds

A CHARITY fundraiser from South Yorkshire is taking on the challenge of the London Marathon to collect money for young cancer sufferers.

Ian Kitchen, from Rotherham, aims to complete the 26.2-mile marathon in April and hopes to raise £1,500 for Children With Cancer UK.

Ian, a branch manager for an electrical wholesale firm, will be running the race with the Mr Men and Little Miss team, who run in colourful costumes based on the children’s books.

The charity supports research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer.

It also runs campaigning programmes.

Ben Twyman, head of running events, said: “Thanks to Ian and the support from all of our dedicated marathon runners we’re able to help save young lives that would have otherwise been lost forever.”
