Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with four knifepoint robberies in the borough over the last two weeks.

The most recent robbery took place just after 6.50pm last Saturday, when officers were called to the Brookfield Filling Station, Hampole Balk Lane, Skellow.

A man entered the shop carrying a knife and demanded money from the cashier.

The staff member handed cash over, and the man left in the direction of Skellow.

He was white, in his early 40s, short and stocky, with dark hair that was balding. He was wearing a dark jacket with a hood.

Police believe the incident may be linked to other similar robberies in the area.

At around 9.20pm on Saturday, August 9, a man entered Bargain Booze, Great North Road, Woodland, carrying a knife and demanded money.

Cash and cigarettes were stolen from the store.

A similar incident occurred at Bargain Booze at Station Road, Thurnscoe, at 9pm on Monday, August 11, when cash was stolen.

And a man entered the One Stop Shop, Skellow, on Wednesday, August 13, at 9.15pm and threatened staff. Cash was stolen and the offender was seen to drive away in a small silver car.

Anyone who recognises the man in the image is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 918 of 16/08/2014, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who may have information on any of the robberies.

Call police on the number above.
