Rail stop gets new artwork

CONSERVATIONISTS are launching a public art project to brighten up a railway station.

Friends of Dronfield Station - the group responsible for the makeover which transformed the train stop into a beauty spot - will display artwork in its newly repainted waiting shelters.

Members used a £1,200 grant from Derbyshire County Council to buy the specially-designed display cases, which will feature artwork from local artists and schoolchildren.

Coun Sue Allsopp will be guest of honour at the official launch of the scheme, designed to raise awareness of the station, on Wednesday.

The first lot of artwork has been produced by pupils from Dronfield Junior and Infant Schools and Gorseybrigg Primary School.
